Day 21- Dream Wedding Day

Like some women, I have dreamed about my wedding day when I was 5, when I helped my mother plan her own wedding to my father. The both exchanged their vows in my great granddad tom’s church and had their reception in a small pub just a little under the mile from the church. A small wedding just with close friends and family. It was the same with both of their second marriages though mum’s second wedding.

I personally think when it comes to weddings it should reflect on you and your partner. On their likes, loves and what they enjoy.

I always knew that for the reception I would be in a marquee with a buffet meal, with a load of laughter and joy. I forgot to mention a baking competition as well.

Whereas the ceremony I don’t know other than the main flowers of my bouquet with peonies or ranunculus depending on season, if I had to pick a season to get married it’ll be in late spring/early summer or late summer/ early autumn as I don’t want to sweat. Once upon a time ago I wanted to get married in a church but more specifically my granddad’s Tom’s church but now that’s sold I don’t think I want to get married in a church but it’s something I need to talk to my future fiancé about.

The colours I’m stuck on between pink, grey and gold, pastel coloured theme or gold and white since that was my mother’s theme to my dad that I really like to this day.  Besides gold will suit everyone too.

I guess I must wait till I have on a ring on my finger to tell you all the details.

Day 20 – Dream Career

Unsure if you were around for my previous blog posts but once upon a time ago (more like a year ago,) I have done what I want to do after university career wise but plans change and your career path will change.

I am at university studying graphic design and multimedia and within that, you could work in a studio, freelance or like me wanting to go into a company either as a graphic designer in publication and publishing, a graphic designer itself or maybe within marketing and advertising. As a graphic designer, you are communicating what the company or client wants you too.

Though as a career, I would like to work for a wedding, baby, stationary industry or something that I have not yet discovered.

Though my absolute dream is to work for a wedding magazine and have a stationary brand with my own name which is an amazing thought to think of because I would like a career that has routine, stability and lastly a career that will let me peruse my personal dreams though I cannot do my personal dreams without a career.

Day 13 – 5 years back

5 years ago, I would have been 18.

That’s scary to think that I would have quit my florist job at this point as a junior florist and in college again to study art and design for higher education to go into university the following year.

I had a dream to study illustration and graphic design because in truth they collide with each other well. Also since most illustrators go into graphic design anyway.  I wanted to study at Liverpool John Moores, Hertfordshire University and UCLAN.

Now thinking of these universities I don’t think I would be happy at these universities since they’re all too noisy and too busy though more on that soon enough but Hertfordshire would have been for my ex which is very weird to think of being there now that we have spilt and gone our separate ways hence I think that was why I was scared of remain up in Glasgow with my current partner for a little over 2 years now just if we break up.

Plus the hunger games catching fire came about which is one of my favourite book series. Then I would have gotten my provisional driving which is soon to be pink by the end this year I hope since I did my theory at the beginning of the year.

Day 12 – My Day in Bullets

If your nosy like me I love to see everyone’s day, especially vlogs or Instastory’s/snapchats because I am just that nosey and I like to know what’s going on really but in this point of view I’ll be doing it from a Saturday at my partner’s house which is actually currently where I am at this very moment when your reading this. Just coming more towards nightfall, so I did this whilst I took a mental note on what I am doing.

  • Wake up 8am
  • Cuddles and kisses with said partner
  • Shower
  • Breakfast
  • Clean the flat up a bit
  • Go for a walk
  • Whilst on a walk see his mammy
  • Go back to the flat
  • Make lunch to then eat lunch
  • Rotate washing on the maiden
  • Iron a couple of mine and his clothing
  • Do a little of university work ready for autumn
  • Plan bits for Isle of Uist
  • Make dinner
  • Watch a movies/TV Series
  • Get ready for bed
  • Bedtime

I am basic but that’s the only thing that I can think of to highlight in this blog post.

Till next time!

Day 11 – Favourite blogs

Originally when I started blogging I blogged on this other site that I created for long distances relationship blog to start being part of their community to then giving tips and tricks to the readers but there are others outside of the long-distance relationship.

Zero’s Blog – I love her blog, its beauty mixed with punk she had just recently followed her favourite band Green Day which I did enjoy reading. She’s actually from Scotland which is so much cooler.

Blog | Instagram account

The Bummy LDR Couple – they hardly update their blog anymore (so maybe this might kick them up a bum a little to do so!) though I follow their Instagram account which I think Michi updates it more than Cruz but otherwise their sweet little cinnamon buns that are just too cute to eat!

Blog | Instagram account

Fuller Figure Fuller Bust – Now when I say this woman rocks, this woman rocks. She’s a model and a plus size model that started to give me confidence about my body even though its declining a little since starting on my weight loss but she’s always giving me a confidence with working out as well. So, I really needing to thank her for it.

Sprinkle of Glitter – one of the first blogs a I have read was from this lovely lady and got me intrigued about blogging about fashion, beauty and lifestyle then I found her really easy to read and watch when it came to her YouTube channel.

Blog | Instagram account

Becca Roae/Grace F Victory – I put these together because I could not decide on who do I love most between these two. Their fashion is very contrasting from each other Becca is very dainty floral patterns whereas Grace is very bold patterns when they were clothes.

Grace’s: Blog | Instagram account

I have however, found myself reading another blog who is Mia from Beautiful, Creative, Inspiring – Life. She recently commented on my previous blog posts though I have been enjoying her content.

Day 1 – Introduction

Day 1 – Introduction

I thought I might do a blogging challenege throughout the month of august to re-introduce myself, and the PY (Plus You) brand. Each day will be a different topic about the blog, of myself or both but I hope you enjoy the monthly blogging.

So Hi!

My name is Alexandra Layla and I run Plus You blog here. I am 22 years old and I am a soon to be third year graphic design and multimedia student.

I do not really know what I want to do with my degree as now that I have experience within advertising and marketing, leaning towards digital content creator but originally, I wanted to be a magazine layout designer specially for wedding magazines or do a pgce become a secondary teacher.

I love to go on walks, working out, make up and fashion. Even though I am terrible at fashion and watch YouTube make up looks which always end in a fail. Though we shall always try until almost perfection. I do love to bake and cook but I get quite anxious thinking that I will just destroy the kitchen but there’s always the take away menu on the fridge. And of course blogging but I do have the tendency to go on and off but I am trying to be prepared for the next academic year and possibly more into the future as well so this could be my portfolio.

That’s it for now, I shall see you all very soon!

Univeristy Summer List

Transition from a second-year university student into the third-year student is still very overwhelming topic to think about but then again it needs to be thought about especially with the summer time to squeeze every opportunity of free time that you have until your back in academics for the last and final time (or one of the final times, considering doing my GCSE and doing a PGCE) so here is your check list.

  1. Get work experience in your chosen field.

I am currently doing this for my chosen field in graphic design and multimedia, and it is so important to do your experiences now rather than later when you graduate. Do it now whilst you’re in university, your future self with thank your past self.

  1. Start your dissertation now

You do not want to be stressing yourselves out silly buggers when it comes to two weeks before your deadline before its time to hand it in, I know some people who did it four days before hand. That stresses me out. Even if you did the reading for it and creating notes, your stopping your near future self-crying thinking that they should have done it ages ago.

  1. Get a wee job

Even though it’s a given, those student loans must stop at one point and you are in the real world. A job on the side can be your lifeline on savings for when you go to a different city when you get your first job in the industry. Everyone should have savings really, and they can really help even if the job is cleaning job.

  1. Sort out your open brief projects

This doesn’t apply unless your chosen subject requires you too, I know I see this a lot in creative subjects. Its choosing your open brief projects and finding competition briefs. Even though it’s a required for the summer maybe take in consideration what other projects you want to do in that chosen field or what you would like to try. Every little helps.

Countdown to Gradution

Personally, I cannot remember the time when I was a decent size eighteen and I bet it was round the time when I was in high school where I was constantly active until I was in a depressive state when I was with my ex and ate my body weight in chocolate, chicken mayo sandwiches and biscuits. Moved up to Scotland lost two stone and currently with my partner who I met through a leading weight loss programme, and through my step mum as he is the son of her best friend.

Then university started and needless too say university can be stressful. Very stressful and now its coming towards the stressful times of final year in September through I don’t want to eat my stress away because of a ceremony at the end of third and final year which is also known as graduation.

I have been teasing of this segment that I want to do on this blog for ages even though I am not ready to post my weight just yet hence why I will be posting “weight loss Wednesday” the last Wednesday of every month starting from September until October/November 2018 so I’m dropping a countdown in lbs for graduation class for 2018.

Wish me luck you beautiful lot!

Long distance and Finance.

Being in a long distance can be blissful, and full of laughter at times however on other sides of things it could be very hard. One of the aspects that is challenging in a long-distance relationship is finance, and finance can be a huge struggle in every day to day relationship anyway.

When you have no money, no job and have a long-distance relationship, and wanting to see each other money is a huge factor.

So how do you battle it?

Honesty

Try not to think of the worst, be honest with your partner about your financial situation and them doing the same to you. Then if you’re on government support they will help with your CV and cover letter when you go to the job centre, or your career centre in university.

Travel

I am lucky enough to go to university with a large sum of money at the beginning of each term, and this is where you prioritise should come into play. Instead of buying that beautiful Grace ship bag that you are drooling over for years (this one, might ask it for Christmas or money towards it at least) I put the money towards train tickets. In 3 months in advance, not only its cheaper by the percentages of what you saved. If you do run out of money, you’re in the state of mind that its done and you don’t have to worry about it. Don’t buy tickets last minute, you pay full price and then your spending more. In my case I would rather spend £125 worth of 3 months of train tickets rather than spending £175 on the day for a return.

Unsure about flights but I am sure the Bummyldrcouple will do a blog about that.

If you’re in the UK as well, time to invest in a railcard.  I have a 16-25 railcard which saves 30% off, and go through top cash back so you get money back.

Apply

Next step is applying and apply to jobs that you may not particularly enjoy. At the end of the day it is money, and that money will go to seeing your partner or nicer things that you might want to invest in.

Lastly once you get the job, budget. Loose change in a jar etc.

Budgeting is so important. Work out what your needing that month, loose change in a jar which can go towards your train tickets or something for you and your partner to do.

Do you have any tips on financial view point of being in a long distance relationship. Comment would love to read your thoughts.
